The discovery of tin in Kuala Lumpur in the late 19th century spurred a rush of miners from China to the burgeoning mining town. In 1855 a young pewtersmith named Yong Koon Seong sailed from the southeastern Chinese port of Guandong to Malaya. His journey led ultimately to the founding of one of the best-known pewter companies in the world, now known as Royal Selangor. This is a fascinating record of events in the history of Royal Selangor including the evolution and style of pewter products over the last 125 years.
