Terry Pratchett


Sir Terry Pratchett is a British author, best known for his Discworld series. The comic fantasy book series is set in the fictional world known as Discworld, a flat disc balanced on the backs of four elephants which each stand on the back of a giant turtle. The series often parodies fantasy clichés such as fairy tales, witches and vampire stories. There are 41 novels in the book series, the first of which being The Carpet People which was published in 1971. The final book, The Shepherd’s Crown, was published shortly after his death in August 2015. Overall, Pratchett has sold more than 85 million books worldwide in 37 languages, and was awarded a knighthood for his services to literature in 1998.
