Agatha Christie is one of England’s best known crime novelists, with over 100 books, short stories and plays to her name. She was born in Torquay in 1890 and became a Dame in 1971 for her contribution to literature. Christie is best known for her crime novels. Characters such as Miss Marple and Hercule Poirot have gone on to become household names, and remain as popular as ever. Christie has sold over a billion English copies of her books and another billion in over 100 languages, making her one of the world’s most successful authors of all time.
