Synopsis

Dracula by Bram Stoker created a new genre within the horror category. In this brilliant Manga Classic adaptation we find Jonathan Harker, a young English lawyer, traveling to Castle Dracula in the Eastern European country of Transylvania. The reason for his journey is to finalize the details of a real estate transaction with a nobleman named Count Dracula. As Harker explores the beautiful countryside he begins to receive warnings from the locals about the man he about to meet. They give him odd charms and crucifixes to ward off evil spirits. They also utter a strange word that Harker later discover means vampire. Originally published in 1897, Dracula has inspired many horror genres, gothic drama, theatrical, film and tv interpretations.

Author Bio
Born in Ireland in 1847, Bram Stoker studied mathematics at Dublin's Trinity College and embarked on his longtime role as an assistant to actor Sir Henry Irving in the 1870s. He also began carving out a second career as a writer, publishing his first novel, The Primrose Path, in 1875. Stoker published his most famous work, Dracula, in 1897, though he died before the fictional vampire would achieve widespread popularity though numerous film and literary adaptations in the 20th century. Stacy King is an editor for Manga Classics, a critically-acclaimed line of modern adaptations of literary classics in a manga format. In addition to her editorial duties, she has also written the adaptations for PRIDE AND PREJUDICE, SENSE AND SENSIBILITY, the upcoming THE STORIES OF EDGAR ALLEN POE and DRACULA, along with creating the English-language scripts for other books in the line. She holds an Honors B.A. from the University of Toronto, where she specialized in English Literature. When not immersed in a book, she enjoys historical costuming and obsessing about cats.
