Crocheting is finally leaving behind its dowdy, old-fashioned image of tiny doilies, and this book is another example of the way people are re-inventing the craft.

Knitwear teacher and designer Judith Swartz has filled this book with 23 fashion focused garments and hip home accessories, from a bohemian sweater, retro bed slippers and striped mittens, to pillows and throws. If you're new to crocheting, start with the chapter on basic stitch techniques, hook sizes, gauges and finishing techniques, before moving on to exciting projects using mohair, merino and angora blends. Each pattern is clearly presented with colour photography and easy to follow stitch illustrations. For experienced crocheters there are larger projects, such as an on-the-side cardi and a block-on-block constructed skirt.
