Media Reviews
Hamila Rashid, a Somalian and Tony, a bishop's son are both unhappy with the narrow religious views of their families and wish the world's great religions could be drawn together in peace by the ideals and beliefs they hold in common. Gradually they are drawn together by intense dreams featuring the other. When they meet they are astounded to discover the divine mission they have been chosen to accomplish together. Hamila Rashid is a particularly attractive character: a refugee making a new life in England, she accepts her calling with grace and humility. The last pages of the book with the vision of the future she has been called upon to create are very moving. This is a subject the author obviously feels deeply about and he has handled with sensitivity in a story told with simplicity and sincerity.;From the first pages of this intriguing story right through to the very end, I found The Dream Messiah to be a gripping, sensitive and thought provoking read. The way that the story unfolds, the attractiveness of Tony and Hamila, and indeed, the other characters, the detailed descriptions of the situations they encounter, held my thoughts and made this book difficult to put down. I highly recommend this lovely book.;Hamila Rashid, a Somalian and Tony, a bishop's son are both unhappy with the narrow religious views of their families and wish the world's great religions could be drawn together in peace by the ideals and beliefs they hold in common.
