by David Bowden (Author), Mick Shippen (Author)

Synopsis

Introducing an endlessly fascinating region that combines rapid change with enduring hospitality; modern cities with ancient temples; urban experiences with breathtaking scenery. Throughout, there are delicious foods to sample and warm and welcoming people. There are unmissable ancient sites in each of the five countries, such as Angkor in Cambodia, Vat Phou in Laos, Bagan in Myanmar, Ayutthaya in Thailand and Hue in Vietnam. And each country has its own share of mystery and intrigue, whether it's the floating villages of Inle Lake or the ethnic hill villages of northern Thailand and Laos, as well as marvellous beaches and abundant wildlife. Whether you take a boat trip in Halong Bay in Vietnam, hire a motorbike to attempt the Mae Hong Son Loop in Thailand or a tuk-tuk to get around Phnom Penh, the sights you will see are memorable and enduring.
