A Letter for Bear

Synopsis

As remarkable a writer as he is an illustrator. --Publishers Weekly

Poor Bear, who will send him a letter? Come rain or shine, he works so hard delivering the post to all the animals of the wood but he never receives anything himself. Hardly surprising since he's never actually sent a message! One day Bear decides to write some mail of his own, inviting all the forest animals to a party.

David Lucas is a well-loved British illustrator and writer whose fairy tales and folk stories have enchanted children and adults for years.

A Letter for Bear earned a Kirkus Star

A wintry, holiday read much like a gingerbread house: slightly slanted, but poignant, sweet, soul-warming and studded with delicious details that warrant close inspection. - Kirkus Book Reviews 02.10.13

My favourite Christmassy book this year by quite a long way! - Library Mice, Faboulous Five Christmas Ideas, 05.12.13

The gentle story is more a general tribute to friendship and connection than a paean to the Christmas holiday. Young children who are new to the process of making friends will find this story particularly heart-warming. It is a title to read together, again and again. - Childrens Literature
