Synopsis

Fourteen year-old Sutherlander Murdo Mackay agrees to collect some machinery by boat in early 1943, but his suspicions about the mysterious cargo are confirmed when he discovers that the crates are full of German machine guns. Fleeing through freezing conditions and some of Scotland's harshest landscapes as the extent of the German plan becomes clear, Murdo must run not only for his life, but to save Britain from invasion.

Author Bio
Alan Temperley was born and grew up in Sunderland. Leaving school at sixteen, he joined the Merchant Navy and has sailed as deck hand and ship's officer. After a spell in the RAF he studied at Manchester and Edinburgh Universities and became a teacher of English in the Highlands. As an author he has won several awards, his books are in seventeen languages and two have been adapted into award-winning TV series, Harry and the Wrinklies and The Magician of Samarkland. He has one son and lives near Castle Douglas in south-west Scotland.
