by Andy Green (Author)
This is a book about the times we live in. It is a guide to help anyone cope, make the most of, or even thrive in the unfamiliar and difficult economic circumstances we face. This is an age of disruption: what was previously thought of as safe, reliable or predictable just doesn't seem to be the case any more. With doom and gloom in the news, harsh realities hitting home with many losing their jobs, fewer obvious opportunities, and a general slowdown of the economy, we all need help and guidance. Where can you turn to for help? Who has the answers? Where is the rock of certainty you need in your life? The problem it seems is that nobody knows. No one seems to have an answer. It's best summed up by an experience of a friend of mine, a leading motivational speaker. He was at a conference of senior BBC executives. Before him was a business finance expert. This expert revealed Powerpoint upon Powerpoint of graphs, trends and data essentially showing how the next few years are going to be desperate. The thought occurred to my friend: did this guy predict the current credit crunch? What was he saying two years ago - and what were his slides predicting then? Uncomfortably, it seems we cannot turn to the so-called 'experts' to predict what is going to happen and assuage the nervous anxiety about our futures. The answer is, they simply don't know. In this situation, who can you rely on? There's only one person it seems. And that is you.
