David Pilgrim is Professor of Mental Health Policy at the University of Central Lancashire. He has higher degrees in both psychology and sociology and his publications include A Sociology of Mental Health and Illness (Open University Press, 2005), which was winner of the 2006 BMA Book of the Year Award.
