Synopsis

The poems in Open Window reveal Joyce Williams to be a fine and serious lyric poet able to charm the reader with her sense of place, and excellent ear. Her evocation of Somerset and its people is particularly impressive. These poems arise from the distinguished line of British poetry that employs music, formal intelligence and an awareness of grace to delight and move.
