Author Bio
Antony Worrall Thompson is a restaurateur and TV chef. He presented the BBC's Saturday Kitchen and was a regular guest chef on Ready Steady Cook. Antony's career as a chef began in 1978 when he started work as a sous-chef at Brinkley's Restaurant. One month later, he was head chef and in 1981 Antony opened his own restaurant in London, which was notorious for only serving starters and puddings. Since then, the restaurants he's been involved with have been heaped with accolades and he has worked on several popular television cookery shows, most recently appearing on UKTV Food's The People's Cookbook with fellow chef Paul Rankin. Passionate about organic farming, Antony has also written several recipe books including Antony Worrall Thompson's GI Diet, Healthy Eating for Diabetes, Antony Worrall Thompson's Top 100 Beef Recipes and his autobiography Raw. In 2003, he showed he was game for a laugh when he appeared on ITV's I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! As well as appearing on a number of TV shows, Paul Rankin runs a successful restaurant business, the Rankin Group, in his native Belfast. Paul's restaurant group extends across both Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland, and includes restaurants, cafes and also a revival of Paul's original restaurant Roscoff, which re-opened in Belfast city centre in 2004 after a five-year break. Paul and his wife Jeanne have appeared together in three series of a television culinary journey called Gourmet Ireland, and together they have written five books, including Dublin Dining, New Irish Cookery and Gourmet Ireland. Paul also hosted three series of The Rankin Challenge, with numerous appearances on Masterchef, Who'll do the Pudding?, and The Good Food Show. He is also one of the long time favourites on Ready Steady Cook.
