Media Reviews
A real gem of a thriller, and good to see spies back in action. Peter Carpenter, London Book Club Review. ..., but this one, Black Beach, was excellent: gripping, romantic, and downright dangerous . Pauline Beauregard, New Literary Gazette. Ian Macpherson has done it again. Invisibility was the beach book of the summer, and Black Beach is even better. Giles du Boulay, Associated News. Special Agent B. Pett has returned from Africa on his first official mission for us. The mission was successful, but he seems to have upset most, if not all, of our allies. His nonchalance can be most annoying to his superiors, but other agents, particularly foreign female agents, seem to find it mysteriously appealing. He is discreet, but it would be more helpful in debriefings if he was less so. He is overcoming his fear of filling forms, if not of firing guns. He has potential, but if would be helpful if he took our work a bit more seriously, developed a sense of duty to match his frivolous attitude to adventure.
