Media Reviews
This book inspires me. Power to the peaceful. - Benjamin Zephaniah Do the Right Things! is a fine guide to ethical living - Friends of the Earth The most useful and positive book you'll read this year. Essential reading for anyone feeling useless, negative, selfish, hopeless or unable to change. - John Vidal, Environment Editor, The Guardian Reader reviews: This book is a real eye opener, especially as a selfish capitalist who'd like to do more, but doesn't know how. It's all in here and by making just a small effort I feel like a saint! The best thing is that the book is funny and readable and makes you think without feeling you are being lectured or being made to feel guilty. And it's all in there from eco friendly bank accounts to how to throw away your old computer. When I got it for my birthday I thought...yawn a book that'll tell me how bad I am blah, blah, but it's a real surprise and a pleasure to read. This is a seriously important book. Yes, there are cute squirrels in it, all picking up little acorns to make great things grow. Whether you are active or dormant on the politco-economic front or not, Pushpinder's Do The Right Things makes doing the right things so much easier. Also as a teacher of CSPE (Civic Social and Political Eduction) in Ireland it is certainly a brilliant book to get children agitated, educated, and politicised. Do the right thing, buy the book. At the bottom of each piece are addresses and contact details of companies that offer ethical alternatives to the standard megacorporations and, for the lazy or busy, everything's summed up by a few easy sentences at the end to get you started. This book won't teach you how to save children from burning houses or punch Bill Gates in the face, but following just some of these suggestions is doing something unselfish and useful, and a great way of sticking it to the increasingly evil Man. All that plus cute cartoons of ethically-conscious squirrels. Buy and act. It might just change your life.
