Using the Law in Social Work (Transforming Social Work Practice)

Using the Law in Social Work (Transforming Social Work Practice)

by Robert Johns (Author)

Synopsis

For all social workers the law provides the framework within which services are offered: it is impossible to practise effectively without an in-depth understanding of how the law affects everyday social work practice. This book provides students who are beginning to develop their skills with an understanding of the legal framework within which social workers must work. The second edition will be fully updated to include the requirements of The Children Act 2004.

Author Bio
Robert Johns has over 25 years' experience of statutory social work across the full range: youth justice, mental health, disability, vulnerable adults and as a children's guardian. A deep commitment to social justice and unease about social workers' legal knowledge led him to teaching and researching in this area. He has taught applied social work law in higher education since 1986 on both professional qualifying and post-qualifying courses.
