Titian and His World

Titian and His World

by PeterHumfrey (Author)

Synopsis

Venetian painting of the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries was extraordinarily rich in talent, and Titian's older and younger contemporaries included painters of the stature of Bellini, Giorgione, Bassano, Tintoretto and Veronese. Published to accompany the major exhibition The Age of Titian , this book examines twenty of the most important paintings included in the show. It also traces the development of Venetian painting from about 1460 to 1615 and provides the background to the opulence and sensuousness of Venetian painting.
