Cooking for Coco: Naturally Delicious Baby Food Recipes from a Chef's Kitchen

by SianBlunos (Author)

Synopsis

Like most busy mothers, Sian Blunos wanted to feed her baby well, but as a trained chef, working alongside her Michelin-starred chef husband, she didn't have a lot of free time. Her solution was to develop recipes using a wide variety of fresh, available foods, which could be batch-cooked and used to stock the freezer. Now, she always has on hand a range of delicious dishes that can be served up at any time, even when away from the kitchen, and you can, too. Sian advises how with a little care and planning, you can give even the youngest of children the experience of good, fresh food, which is tasty and nutritious. There is an added benefit, too; babies raised on this type of food rarely become fussy eaters - good eating patterns become set for life. If you want to give your baby the best, given that time is limited, you can't afford not to treat both of yourselves to this book.

Media Reviews
How many people do you know who won't eat a particular food because it was forced upon them as a child? Liver, onions, fish? Gourmet chef Sian Blunos, wife of Michelin-starred restaurant owner and chef Martin Blunos, spotted a gap in the baby and children's food market when she had her own. Tinned, preservative-ridden tasteless gunk in a variety of colours were all that was available and she wasn't going to inflict that on her kids. Instead she used her culinary expertise to design foods full of goodness and flavour which could be made in batches and frozen - a huge plus for busy mums. Slowly introducing the young palates to new flavours, she ensures that her children won't grow up with any food hang-ups or fads. Reading more like an adult cookbook, all the delicious recipes here should be eagerly devoured by young ones - braised pork with apricots, chicken and pumpkin risotto, poached salmon with vegetables in creamy dill sauce. And for puddings - apple and cinnamon muffins, poached peaches and warm mango and cardomom puree. Easy instructions, attractive photographs and expert advice from a real mum make this a must for any parent wanting the best for their child. And with such tasty food being served at the table, bun fights over it are sure to ensure between mum and child.. - Lucy Watson
