Steve Barlow was born in Crewe but now lives in Somerset with his wife and cats. After working as a puppeteer, refuse collector and laundry-van driver, he became a teacher of performing arts, before turning to full-time writing. With Steve Skidmore, he formed one of Britain's most popular writing double-acts for young people, and performs regularly in schools and libraries.
