Created from The Hebrides - a Natural History , this volume - the third in a trilogy - concludes its study of the natural world of the Hebrides with a survey of the islands' relations with mankind, and the work of conservationists today. Two of the most famous nature reserves in Britain are to be found on Rum and St Kilda, and throughout the islands many different species of birds and animals can be seen in their natural habitats. Although each work within the trilogy complements the other two, they each stand as individual volumes.
