John Hawley is director of the Human Performance Laboratory at the Sports Science Institute of South Africa, has worked with elite athletes in New Zealand and South Africa and has published widely on nutrition. Louise Burke is head of the Dept. of Sports Nutrition at the Australian Institute of Sport, editor of the key text Clinical Sports Nutrition, and is widely published in international journals on nutrition.
