Synopsis

Crewel work is a traditional form of embroidery using woollen yarn, which has been used for about five centuries. An introductory guide to the techniques and stitches, this text includes an explanation of the history of the craft by the author and the basic steps involved in starting out. There is also special advice on use of colour and backgrounds to offset the embroidery.
