Author Bio
A.L.Barker left school at 16 and after the War joined the BBC. Her debut collection of short stories, Innocents, won the first ever Somerset Maugham Prize in 1947 and her novel, John Brown's Body (VMC) was shortlisted for the 1960 Booker Prize. She is the author of eleven novels and nine collections of stories.
