He has known some of the most talented men and women of his time, and their portraits appear in the book. James Salter is the author of "The Hunters", "The Arm of Flesh", "A Sport and a Pastime", "Light Years", "Solo Faces" and "'Dusk' and Other Stories". He won the PEN/Faulkner Award for fiction in 1989.
