My Favourite Word Book

My Favourite Word Book

by SelinaYoung (Author)

Synopsis

80 pages of colourful spreads full of words and pictures for every child to enjoy, and designed to encourage letter and word recognition - the first steps to successful reading. Reminiscent of the much loved Richard Scarry books, but entirely fresh and original, Selina Young has created a book of tremendous appeal - full of humour and a sense of fun, but cleverly structured to do its job properly. Zoe and Toby, plus their pets Patch, Smudge and Pat lead the reader through the book encouraging them to participate on every page - finding words to match to pictures, and learning to be at ease with letter shapes as well as images. Whether it's in the house, at the swimming pool, the theme park, a town, the farm, a supermarket or department store, or making a cake, mending the car, doing a painting or playing music - there is an endless variety of familiar scenes which will inspire confidence and any child's desire to read more. Readers will love finding the ladybird hiding on every page, or sometimes asking them questions, and find out what happens to her at the end of the book where there is a complete index and easy-to-follow instructions on how to use it.
