Synopsis

This photographic tour of Bronte country, takes in the places and buildings that are associated with the family and their literature. From Haworth and its parsonage; to Scarborough, where Anne is buried; to the school at Cowan Bridge in Lonsdale, where the Brontes were pupils; to Thornton, where Reverend Bronte was vicar before Haworth; to Stone Gap, the house featured in Jane Eyre and where Charlotte was governess; to the ruins of the hall in Lancashire, that was the model for Rochester's mansion; and the White Swan pub at Luddenden, whose library was used by Branwell. The book suggests a Bronte trail to follow and contains extracts from the prose and poetry of the family.
