Let the Children Sing

Let the Children Sing

by Leonora Langley (Author)

Synopsis

Having discussed the difficulties faced by parents and the shortcomings of the National Curriculum, Leonora Langley draws on her own wide experience as teacher, journalist, actress and arts educator to argue, as the Ancient Greeks did, that the arts are the lynchpin of any real education. Only by putting children's innate creativity and curiosity at the heart of our educational mission, can we hope to re-engage the vast numbers of children switched off from the current system, many of whom remain alienated from mainstream society their whole lives. Listing several inspiring examples from her own experience, her own views are then backed up by leading educational practitioners, whose opinions, offered to the author in a series of interviews, make up the second part of the book.
