Red Parrot, Wooden Leg

Red Parrot, Wooden Leg

by Gregorio Kohon (Author)

Synopsis

This is an original first novel of an accomplished poet: erotic, humorous, exotic and sensuous. It describes the adventures of two young writers, set in the midst of political repression, anti-Semitism and violence during the Latin American dictatorships of Brazil and Argentina in the 60s. Kohon s text might be deceptively read as personal reminiscences. In fact, this is one of the many achievements of this wonderful piece of fiction.

Media Reviews
It was a great pleasure to read. In finishing the novel, I felt tremendous sadness--the last section is marvellous. What is done so well in the book is the creation of atmosphere--whether political intimidation, the ambiguous threats of magic, or just erotic possibilities. The bizarre, semi-surreal outrageous scenes are quite brilliant, and the spirit of amazing mischief is irresistible. The disturbing links with the political violence haunts the novel. --Adam Phillips, author of Staying Sane
