by StevenJ.Zaloga (Author)

Synopsis

On 22 June 1944, three years to the day after Germany's invasion of Russia, the Red Army launched a massive offensive codenamed Operation Bagration. Within five weeks they were at the gates of Warsaw. This attack had destroyed Army Group Centre annihilating 17 Wehrmacht divisions and over 50 other divisions were smashed. It was the most disastrous defeat suffered by the German armed forces in World War II and cost the Wehrmacht more men and materiel than the defeat at Stalingrad.
