Synopsis

It is East Berlin, in the year 1990. The wall has just been pulled down. A man arrives at the flat of his grandmother with searingly awkward questions about a past, which involves Nazi brutality, the Kindertransport and the despairful suicide of his grandfather. Meanwhile, a generation later, in Bethlehem, the Israeli security barrier is going up. Played out by a company of actors as they rehearse these tense, sometimes painful, scenes, Memory is a new play which brings the past and present together in an intimate exploration of division, destiny and the undimmed potency of memory itself.
