Synopsis

The very near future, the Conservatives are back in power - but only just, with a majority of three. A controversial vote is coming up, and the Whips Office is using all its guile to head off a rebellion, not helped by the equally cunning shenanigans employed by the Opposition Whip. The climax comes when a bunch of placard-carrying protesters is deliberately let on to the floor of the House in a last desperate attempt not to lose the vote.

Media Reviews
Whipping It Up is a quick-witted, fast-moving switchback of a play, with more twists and double-bluffs than a poker game between conmen. It premieres in November 2006 at 'that powerhouse of new writing', the Bush Theatre in West London: 'the British theatrical landscape would be a duller, emptier place without it' Daily Telegraph. 'Sharp, slick, cynical and howlingly funny... a remarkably assured debut' Guardian 'The Bush has a scoop on its hands. I just wish all days at the office were as good as this' Daily Telegraph
