O Go My Man (NHB Modern Plays) (Nick Hern Books)

by StellaFeehily (Author)

Synopsis

This title presents Royal Court premiere - then nationwide tour - for satirical yet humane comedy of modern manners for Out of Joint Theatre Co. Neil is a cutting-edge TV reporter struggling to re-integrate into domesticity. Back from Darfur with a head full of nightmares, he takes a hammer to his life - and his 15 years of marriage. But is his extra-curricular relationship with Sarah going to mend anything - or is it just that she's new? Stella Feehily's rich and frequently hilarious play is set in modern-day Dublin, a city full of celebrity chefs and 12 kinds of latte, and peopled with flawed characters who have enough trouble negotiating their own lives - let alone any crisis unfolding in the wider world. "O Go My Man" - an anagram of "Monogamy!" - premieres on the main stage of the Royal Court before touring the British Isles, including the author's native Dublin. It's staged by 'star' director, Max Stafford-Clark and produced by his own Out of Joint Company, who recently had a huge hit with a "Macbeth" set in a present-day African dictatorship.
