by Amanda Whittington (Author)

Synopsis

Revised edition - with new scenes - of this best-selling play: over 5000 sales to date, GCSE set text. Set in a Mother and Baby Home in 1964 in the north of England and peppered with songs from the period, Be My Baby follows the fortunes of Mary Adams, aged 19, unmarried and seven months pregnant. Forcibly sent to the home by a mother intent on keeping up appearances, Mary has to cope with the drawing realisation that she will have to give the baby up for adoption whether she likes it or not. First staged to unanimous acclaim and full houses at the prestigious Soho Theatre in 1998 with Eleanor Bron and Diana Quick - and again in 2000, Be My Baby enjoyed a nationwide tour in autumn 2002 and embarks on a tour of Scotland in autumn 2005.
