The wildlife and traditional societies of Borneo face many threats as the modern world encroaches. The management of land, the growth of commerce, the introduction of industry, conflicting loyalties to old and new ways of life, are all leaving their mark. Governments and conservation organizations are striving to protect the natural heritage, and there is still much to be achieved.
