Author Bio
Peter J Barnes, MA, DM, DSc, FRCP is Professor of Thoraic Medicine and Head of Respiratory Medicine at the National Heart and Lung Institute, Imperial College, London, UK. Professor Barnes has contributed extensively to the literature on respiratory medicine, most recently Neuropeptides in Respiratory Medicine (Marcel Dekker, 1994); Therapeutics in Respiratory Diseases (Churchill Livingstone, 1994) and Autonomic Control of the Respiratory System (Harwood Academic, 1996). He has also co-written a number of medical pocketbooks with Professor Simon Godfrey, published by Martin Dunitz: Asthma (1995), Asthma and Wheezing in Children (1997) and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (1997) - Simon Godfrey, MD, PhD, FRCP is Professor of Paediatrics and Director of the Institute of Pulmonology, Hadassah University Hospital, Jerusalem, Israel. He co-edited Asthma, 3rd Edition (Chapman and Hall, 1991); and has also co-written with Professor Peter Barnes a number of medical pocketbooks (see above).
