Rain or Shine: Wet Weather Walks in the Lake District (Cicerone British Walking S.)

by Chris Mitchell (Author)

Synopsis

The book is the first guide to exploring the Lake District, whatever the weather. Its author, Chris Mitchell, with over 20 years' experience of leading field study groups, has developed a unique approach for enjoying the outdoors, even in the rain. The result is a collection of 20 detailed walks that reveals a new way of looking at familiar landscapes. There are waterfalls, stone circles, caves and mines, together with their own particular plant life. Never again will you pass a lichen without giving it a second thought! This book will be enjoyed by hillwalkers, visitors, wildlife enthusiasts and families of all ages. It is not about racing to summits and covering great distances, but it is more likely to take you meandering from boulder to boulder. At this speed, your eyes are opened to the smallest detail, and hillwalking becomes an exciting treasure hunt that makes you forget the weather.
