Chasing Jordan (High Risk Books)

by HeidiW.Boehringer (Author)

Synopsis

As Meg approaches home, with her daughter in the back seat, she sples her husband spying on the neighbour. The neighbour is gardening in provocatively short shorts. In the heat of this moment of surprise and suspicion, she hits and kills her two-year-old son, Jordan. Meg's fierce struggle for forgiveness leads her down a twisted path, seeking to save others and spying on people in the hope that she will learn how to cope with grief and guilt. As her marriage unravels, she recalls her own childhood, dominated by an alcoholic and promiscuous mother, and an earlier accident that changed her life forever. Chasing Jordan's dark humour is compelling yet totally unpredictable, showing that the road to redemption is as precarious as it is healing.

Media Reviews
?A story of love and loss, Chasing Jordan is a quiet novel with a thunderclap at its heart. With this first novel, Ms. Boehringer gives notice that she is a writer to watch. This is my kind of novel. Whatever Heidi Boehringer writes next, I will read.? Harry Crews ?Heidi Boehringer combines a uniquely edgy voice with out-of-the-box plotting to produce a novel that literally redefines what it is to be a woman? Joyce Sweeney ?An intimate portrayal of loss and a mother?s search for absolution, this novel packs some punches with its direct and raw narration? An involving and unusual debut novel? Big Issue ?Chasing Jordan is a terrific novel that riffs on the limits of forgiveness, the endless itch of what-ifs, and how the unthinkable can sometimes open the door on a better life? Uncut
