Synopsis

Ian Proctor intends to be somewhere else in four months' time. He dreams of exotic destinations, an end to his financial worries, and some company. Nine months after following his friend Gordon to London, Ian is anxious to change his life again. They're about to be evicted from their squat, he's on the verge of losing his part-time job, and Gordon, an erstwhile rent-collector, is embroiled in a scam that clearly hasn't worked. On top of this, there is the violence around and about them: a man thrown from the back of a double-decker bus, and two thugs a little too handy with their fists and paint-stripper.In Uninvited, Richard House once again demonstrates his ability to chronicle the sense of loss and yearning in everyday lives.Born in Cyprus, Richard House is a performance artist, lecturer and writer living in Nottingham, England. His first novel, Bruiser, was shortlisted for the Ferro Lumley Award.
