George and Me: My Autobiography

George and Me: My Autobiography

by Angie Best (Author), Angie Best (Author), Nicola Pittam (Author)

Synopsis

'I didn't realise that six years of marriage would last a lifetime.' Nobody knows George Best quite like his ex-wife Angie. Their much publicised relationship was conducted in the full glare of the media spotlight and on an emotional roller-coaster that soared the heights and plumbed the depths. Could life with George Best be anything else? This candid autobiography provides unique and fascinating insights into George's decline. With brutal honesty Angle details the battles with the booze, the non-stop womanising and the deterioration of Britain's greatest footballer into 'nothing but a helpless baby'. Angie still speaks to George regularly, offering support and advice to help him conquer his alcohol addiction. Despite everything George put her through, Angie admits: 'I remain good friends with George. He is the only man I ever loved.' George and Me is an uplifting tale of one woman's battle to find the strength to leave and then rebuild her own life.

Author Bio
Angie Best left her home in Essex at the ripe old age of 18 and quickly carved out a career for herself in both modelling and fitness training. It was while working with actress and singer Cher in the late seventies that Angie first met footballing icon George Best. The two were married for six long, hard, difficult years, during which Angie endured her husband's drinking, womanising and verbal abuse. Still a fitness trainer to the stars, Angie lives a relatively quiet life in California, where she keeps a check on the international modelling career of her (and George's) son Callum. Nicola Pittam is a former Sun journalist now based in Los Angeles. She and Angie are good friends.
