Wood Joints (Step-by-Step Techniques S.)

Wood Joints (Step-by-Step Techniques S.)

by Anthony Hontoir (Author)

Synopsis

This reference manual describes in detail how most common wood joints are made, including a few of the less-well-known types, aimed at all woodworkers, in particular beginners. The 12 basic joints are each described, and every variation of any particular joint is laid out in a series of step-by-step line drawings. This series of steps occurs in every section, so that it can be understood without having to refer elsewhere all the time. Once the nature of this repetition becomes apparent, each joint should be seen not merely as a type all of its own, but as a relation of all the others. The book also looks at the use of traditional handtools, and in some cases machine tools are discussed. The basic woodwork joints are: butt, dowel, mitre, housing, halved, lapped, tongued and grooved, sliced, mortise and tenon, bridle, comb and dovetail.
