Woolly Hat (Our Clothes)

Woolly Hat (Our Clothes)

by Chris Fairclough (Illustrator), WayneJackman (Author)

Synopsis

This book is taken from a series about different fabrics and the items of clothing these materials are used for. The materials include both synthetic and natural fibres. Each book is divided into different spreads exploring stage by stage where materials come from and how clothes are actually made. Every spread is illustrated by specially commissioned photographs showing the materials in their raw stage through to the finished articles, worn by children from the reader's own age-group. The book include some simple tests and games which show us what our own clothes are made of. This book takes the reader through the process of how a woolly hat is made. Spread by spread, the reader sees how the sheep are shorn, the wool washed and spun, and lastly dyed and knitted up into the finished article. It includes some simple games and experiments for the reader to see whether his or her own clothes are woollen or synthetic. The author has also written five books in Wayland's "The Senses" series.
