  Part of a series which introduces young children to various habitats in the wider contexts of seasons and life cycles, this illustrated book shows children the many plants and animals to be found in a garden at different times of the year. Each illustration is accompanied by an easy-reader caption as well as a more advanced text. At the end of each chapter there are suggested activities, which include growing bulbs, making a wormery in a jam jar, searching for insect larvae, a competition to grow the tallest sunflower, preserving autumn leaves and making a cake for the birds. A double-page illustration at the end of the book shows a cross-section of a garden through the seasons.
