by RupertMatthews (Author), NikSpender (Illustrator)

Synopsis

This study in the Great Mysteries series is a collection of facts and opinions concerning six of the world's ancient mysteries presented through a combination of artwork and reconstructions backed up by text which assesses the evidence and invites readers to draw their own conclusions. Following an introduction explaining why mystery surrounds many ancient sites and events, the book is divided into six chapters, each dealing with one famous mystery. These include Stonehenge, the lines of Nazca and the statues of Easter Island. Each chapter begins with a dramatization complemented by artwork aiming to capture the atmosphere of the time and place. Current thinking on each subject is discussed, explaining why the case is still shrouded in mystery for example it is now known when Stonehenge was built but not why it was constructed. The conclusion considers the research that is being carried out at many ancient sites in the hope of discovering the full story about these ancient places.
