  This book is a volume in the Let's Discuss series, which deals with a wide range of social questions in a way which is designed to promote discussion among children. Texts are complemented by a number of fictional, personal case studies which have been taken out of copyright, so that they can be copied and distributed in the classroom. Each chapter concludes with a series of questions to help the reader develop their own opinions on the subjects discussed. It then considers the modern women's liberation movement and its effect before going on to examine work, education, health, the images of women presented in the media and violence against women. The final chapter sums up the changes that have taken place in recent years and the issues which are still being debated. The case studies tell the stories of four women confronting problems raised in the text. The book is intended to provide background reading for GCSE studies and Standard Grade in Scotland.
