The City of Woods and Fields: Journey Through Britain from A. to Z.

by StephenButler (Author)

Synopsis

Early in 1991 Blodwen was seen filling up at a petrol station in Armadale on the far northern coast of Scotland. This 1971 Morris Minor van and her driver Stephen Butler were about to embark on a journey down the 2500 mile road to Zennor in Cornwall, raising money for the British Dyslexia Association. The route encompassed one place for each letter of the alphabet in sequence. And, to make life more interesting, their path was chosen at random, and they investigated various aspects of Britain, social, cultural or environmental, at each stop beginning with the appropriate letter - like litter in Letchworth and pets in Poole. The result is this book which provides a cross-section of contemporary British life, concentrating on the humorous and bizarre.
