  Simon Drew has compiled a series of poems, drawings and puns in this book that combine a sense of the ridiculous with a definite seriousness regarding our respect, or lack of it, for the countryside. He has always found that he has an irresistible urge to make fun of most things: this applies particularly to language which he sometimes twists in the same way that a crossword compiler does. However, as a keen observer of our environment, whether it is man-made or otherwise, it would have been hard for him to ignore the fact that humans have had a somewhat odd attitude to the animals and plants that we can (or could) find around us.
