Media Reviews
We like to think of Baby, It's You! as a portable activity gym - perfect for travel or popping in your bag when you're out for the day. The images are cute, in bold primary hues without being twee and as well as touch-and-feel activities each page contains suggestions for further play including baby aerobics and mimicking facial expressions. It's also worth mentioning that the silky yellow fur on the cover is eminently, addictively strokeable. If you're into that sort of thing. Which, we are -- Fiona McKim * Junior Magazine website *
Baby, It's You and Baby, Let's Play by Ruth Redford are two brilliant activity books for young babies. My five-month-old little girl immediately started to reach out and try to grab the bright colourful front cover. Luckily the books are pretty sturdy so can withstand being pulled about and treated like toys. Opening the front cover the bright, bold, colourful pictures and touch and feel pages are an instant hit, inviting little fingers to explore the different textures. The book acts as a sort of fun instruction manual of lots of activities and games you can play with your baby to help their development. They are the sort of ideas that a health visitor or playgroup leader might suggest you try but you can quickly forget, so it's great to have them all in one place, especially as babies start to recognise their favourite toys and books during this age, so can associate the book with fun playtime for you both. The book ends with something that all babies and children love - a mirror! Playing peek-a-boo in a mirror instantly makes most little ones smile. -- Sarah Howell-Smith * Kids in Museums *
Baby, It's You and Baby, Let's Play, written and conceived by Ruth Redford and illustrated by Ami-Lou Sharpe are two cleverly constructed titles for parents to enjoy with their babies. Baby, It's You is aimed at 0-6 month old babies, and Baby, Let's Play for 6-12 months old, although both books will be fun to read long after 12 months old. These large robust board books are designed to promote parent and baby interaction. They are easy to navigate and include lots of elements to explore on each double-page spread including suggested activities for parents on the left and baby on the right. The books are very tactile and contain a variety of fabrics and textures for baby to touch and feel. The illustrations are simple and eye-catching and they work well alongside. Not only do these books encourage parent-baby activities, they also support both baby's fine and gross motor skills as well as their cognitive development. -- Gabrielle Dent and her son, Harrison, and Louise Mundford and her daughter, Lydia * Carousel *
