Synopsis

I can make things happen - good things - I know it! Seren is so full of brilliant ideas - it's just that she always seems to put her foot in it! First there was the dance routine where she fell off the stage. And now her plan to get her sister Sasha noticed by gorgeous Luke Beckford looks like it could backfire...Seren reckons she's just hopelessly accident-prone! But there's one person who believes in Seren. Her mate Keith is making a film for a national competition and he wants Seren to be in it. Could Seren turn out to be a star after all? This is a funny, big-hearted story with a lovable heroine who will make you laugh and cry.

Media Reviews
'funny, loveable and sad, the characters are all so real.' 10/10 The Guardian kids online a very enjoyable book which will make you laugh and make you cry. ... Thoroughly believable engaging characters are this book's strength. It is realism at its best. Carousel Brave New Girl is a lively, fun read from a writer who understands the problems of being thirteen and sometimes feeling uncomfortable and misunderstood. Written in an engaging and accessible style, this is ultimately a very positive book as the often exploited but big-hearted Seren manages to work through her problems, both with her family and peer group. Recommended for readers at KS3. School Librarian Breezy reading for family-orientated younger readers. Books for Keeps
