Paris

by David Loftus (Photographer), Danyel Couet (Author)

Synopsis

Danyel Couet's life-long love for simple French food comes from his paternal grandmother's Parisian kitchen. Onions gave sweetness to the best onion soups while lentils, asparagus, and flavourful sausages were all treated equally lovingly. And the chips! There were no better chips than Grandma's!However, the gastronomy of Paris offers much more than just traditional dishes. After innumerable outings in Paris' many ethnic quarters, Danyel developed a love for couscous, strudel, and Peking duck that is just as strong as that for boeuf bourguignon and mousse au chocolat.Through eight neighbourhoods and just as many kitchens, markets, shops and restaurants, Danyel takes you with him to his Paris. The 90 recipes are organized into chapters by each area or 'quartier', so that you have wonderfully authentic recipes from the Arab quarter, the Jewish quarter and the Greek quarter, for example. Bistro dining and markets are also covered. With beautiful photographs and a stunning design, this book is full of delicious recipes.
