Synopsis

Jun Tanaka presented a TV series called 'Cooking It' in which he took on complete novices and taught them how to cook. This inspired him to write Simple to Spectacular to provide recipes for inexperienced cooks that will build their confidence and teach them basic skills. He shows how simple recipes can then be transformed into spectacular versions with a few simple steps. As Jun says "I want to show that cooking, even to a refined level, is something anyone can do. It's all about building confidence." Jun Tanaka has been head chef of Pearl Restaurant in London since 2004. Prior to that he spent 10 years working with some of Britain's best chefs including Albert Roux, Nico Ladenis and Marco Pierre White. Jun is fast becoming a household name: he had his own Channel Four series 'Cooking It' taking on novices and teaching them how to cook and he is now presenter of 'Market Kitchen' on UKTV, a programme boasting very high viewing figures. He is also BBC's 'Saturday Morning Kitchen' omelette-making champion with an unbeaten record!
